Weld County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a deadly shooting involving a child.

The child was 11 years old. He has not been identified.

Weld County Sheriff’s deputies said two brothers were fighting over a gun when the gun when off, shooting the 11-year-old in the chest and killing him.

The boy's 18-year-old brother was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide.

The shooting happened at about 5:15 p.m. Friday in the Hill-N-Park area in the 4200 block of Grand Teton Drive near Evans.

The boy was rushed to North Colorado Medical Center where he died at 6:19 p.m.

Evans is located just a few miles south of Greeley.
