Over the years I've talked to a lot of victims of identity theft.
One thing many had in common... they weren't diligent about checking their credit and were blindsided when they learned someone had stolen their identities.
To protect yourself head to this site, www.annualcreditreport.com
It was created by the three major credit reporting companies... Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
In just a few minutes you can print out a copy of your credit report after inputting your name, address, date of birth, social security number, and other information only you would know.
You also can get a copy by calling a 1-877-322-8228, but that takes about two weeks to get back in the mail.
Since the three major credit reporting companies offer one free report a year, you can request stagger them every four months and stay on top of any inaccuracies.
