Suspect Carries Hammer During Robbery

A woman was working alone at a Springs business Tuesday when a man barged in demanding money.

Rather than carrying a gun or knife, police say the suspect was armed with a hammer.

The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, and was long gone by the time officers arrived on scene.

The robbery occurred just before 5 p.m. at Check Into Cash on 542 S. Academy Blvd., which was the scene of another robbery just one week earlier. Officers believe the same suspect struck both times.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5-foot-4 with a medium build, wearing a gray hoodie, dark-colored sweatpants and black tennis shoes.

He was reportedly wearing white cotton gloves and used a white t-shirt to cover his face during the robbery.
