A celebration today marked the reopening of North Cheyenne Cañon Park. The area was devastated by flash flooding last summer.
The group Friends of Cheyenne Cañon hosted the event Saturday at the Starsmore Discovery Center located at 2120 S. Cheyenne Canon Rd.
They said the ceremony marks the healing and reopening of one of the most popular spots in Colorado Springs.
"The work the forest services did and the city did to get the park reopened was awesome, I was kinda surprised they got it done as quickly as they did, they did a great job with it," said Bob Falcone.
The group says it provides financial and volunteer support to maintain the park and discovery center.
Park officials said they have big plans for the park in the upcoming year, including collaborations with local schools to get students out into nature.
