READ STORY FROM 2012: Teller County Remains On Alert For Arsonist
Just a few days before the Waldo Canyon Fire broke out, there were 25 fires in a four-day period in Teller County.
All of them were intentionally set, and had seemingly gone unsolved.
But a year and a half later, the Teller County Sheriff's Office says they have a suspect.
Sheriff Mike Ensminger tells us they aren't releasing the man's name at this time, but they have a strong circumstantial case against him. The sheriff says the district attorney told him he would like more concrete evidence before any arrest is made.
11 News asked if the suspect is connected to the Waldo Canyon Fire. The sheriff said he can't answer that question since he isn't a part of that investigation, but that his detectives did pass along the suspect's name to the Waldo Canyon Fire investigators.
The sheriff's office says there is still a $10,000 reward for the person who comes forward with more information about the Teller County case.
The Teller County Sheriff's Office is hosting a news conference Tuesday, December 17th in Divide about the arson situation. Check back for an update, once they release that information.
