A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Drivers are advised to avoid the area of Highway 94 and Marksheffel following a car accident. As of 7:20 a.m., that intersection is partially blocked.
Traffic is going to be diverted onto Space Village in the meantime.
According to Colorado Springs Police, drivers should expect long delays in that part of town. There are few details at this time, but we do know the crash is serious.
According to Colorado Springs Police, everyone involved in the accident was transported to the hospital. Some of those involved have serious injuries.
