A neighborhood street was shut down for hours after a crash sent three people to the hospital.
The Major Accident team was investigating the crash for most of Sunday afternoon. They said it happened just before 4 p.m. Colorado Springs police shut down East Bijou near Academy on the southeast side of town for several hours during their investigation.
Police said 23-year-old Megan Shook was driving drunk while headed eastbound on E. Bijou when she slammed her Ford F-150 into a parked cab, pushing it into three other parked vehicles.
Three women were in the truck when it crashed. All of them were taken to the hospital, but one of the passengers has what police are calling serious bodily injuries.
Investigators said it appears that no one in the truck was wearing a seat belt.
"If (the vehicles) were properly parked with roughly right amount of distance in between, you would guess that there has to be some significant speed involved; there was also no real indication of braking, that's why we're concerned about the alcohol aspect of it too," CSPD Lt. Brian Ritz said.
Police said the driver of the truck, Shook, is facing several felony charges for this crash, including vehicular assault.
Other than the driver and two women in her truck, no one else was injured.
