Officers Discover Drugs During Car Crash Investigation

Colorado Springs police officers found tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs after a hit-and-run accident.

Officers say they found the two-car accident at the intersection of Brook Park Drive and Dublin Boulevard in Colorado Springs around 8:55 p.m. on Monday.

When officers arrived on scene, they found out the driver fled on foot. While investigating the car in question, police found over 138 grams of heroin inside the car, along with nearly $7,600 in cash.

According to police, the estimated street value of the drugs is at least $15,000--and possibly as much as $40,000.

No one was injured in the crash. Officers are still looking for the driver.
