The search for a missing 42-year old Cañon City man will continue Tuesday.

The man, who has not been identified, disappeared in the Arkansas River Monday evening.

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office says he was last seen about two miles east of the Holcim bridge on Hwy 120, east of Florence. He was reportedly fishing with a friend when he waded into the river to rescue his dog. The man was able to get the dog safely back to the riverbank but then disappeared in the fast moving water.

A private helicopter with two sheriff’s deputies on board flew over the river from where the man was last seen downriver to the Pueblo Reservoir, but didn't find any sign of him.

We will be staying on top of the investigation, and will provide updates as they become available.
