An argument regarding the Canon City City Council may have led a councilmember to assault a couple.
City Councilman Michael Katchmar, 54, and local artist Thomas Lockhart, 59, were both arrested Thursday night after police say they assaulted a 70-year-old man and his 65-year-old wife. The couple was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident. It's unknown how serious the injuries were, but both have been released.
The fight happened just before 9 p.m. in on the 600 block of Main Street in Canon City. The men were arrested on first-degree assault charges and charges of crimes against at-risk adults. They were taken to the Fremont County Detention Center and held on a $30,000 bond.
