Colorado Springs Police Department K-9 officers will receive some specially made ballistic vests.

Vested Interest in K9s Inc., a non-profit company from Massachusetts, has selected CSPD K-9 officers Jovi, Broc and Diesel as three of 100 K-9s across the country to receive these vests.

For the past week the non-profit has sponsored an online campaign raising funds to provide 100 ballistic and stab proof vests for police dogs throughout the country.

Jovi, Broc and Diesel, the three newest additions to the CSPD K-9 family will receive their vests as a result of donations received during this campaign. The vests are valued at more than $1,000 each and will last five years.

The Colorado Springs Police Department says they expect to receive the life-saving vests in about 10 weeks.
