A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
DUI arrests during St. Patrick's Day weekend were up over last year, Colorado Springs police announced Wednesday.
Springs police deployed 19 additional DUI officers over a four and a half day period spanning from 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 14 to 3 a.m. on Tuesday. During that time, officers made 41 DUI arrests.
That's up from 28 DUI arrests over the same period last year.
The police department says the additional officers during that time frame were made possible due to Colorado State High Visibility Enforcement grant funds.
