While moving into his new home, a Springs man made an unexpected discovery in his garage.
A bomb squad was sent to East Las Animas, near Fountain and Hancock, after the man found a homemade explosive device in his garage and called police.
Neighbors weren't evacuated, but were told to stay inside. One mother told 11 News the experience was frightening for her children.
"When I see the bomb truck pull up, I called my husband...I told him 'there's a bomb truck in front of the house.' They (the children) got scared and started crying. They were pretty scared and crying, so I tried to calm them down."
Bomb squad technicians detonated the explosive. They are now investigating who left it in the garage. The home is reportedly a rental home.
