The Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a call for a burglary in progress. It was just before noon on Tuesday.
According to police, a black man, believed to be 33-years-old, approached the upstairs apartment at 920 Mt. Werner Circle with a gun in hand. There were three adults and a three year old child in the apartment at the time.
According to investigators’ preliminary information, the suspect was not known to the residents. They said a struggle happened and the suspect was stabbed and ran out of the apartment. Investigators said a neighbor called 9-1-1 to saying the suspect was on the lawn near her apartment.
Officers had the suspect transported to Memorial Central for what were considered life threatening injuries.
