Broncos Ticket Scam On Craigslist

We have a warning for Broncos fans. There's a ticket scam circulating that could cost you hundreds.

Amee Rector thought she'd found the perfect birthday present for her boyfriend. She purchased four tickets to the big Broncos vs. Ravens game.

" I went on Craigslist and found a guy selling them, and it promised good seats,” Rector explained.

Rector arranged to meet the seller in Denver. She handed him $480 dollars in exchange for four tickets. But at the gate she learned they were fake.

“I couldn't believe that someone would do that. It really hurt, that's good hard-earned money out the window."

Kirk Dyer, head of Broncos ticket operations, says the majority of ticket scams he sees are from Craigslist ads. He spends nearly three hours at every game dealing with counterfeit tickets.

“There are only three outlets you can purchase from that you will be guaranteed a valid ticket. The Broncos, Ticketmaster or NFL Ticket Exchange," Dyer said.

For Rector it was a tough lesson, but she hopes others won't make the same mistake she did.

"Just never again, never will I buy tickets on there again."

Rector filed a report with Denver police. 11 News called the number on the Craigslist ad, but it went right to voicemail.
