The video from the home of a couple named Harold and Doraine shows a man walking directly to their garage Tuesday morning in a neighborhood near Dublin Boulevard and Peterson Road.

"Who would ever think you wake up in the morning and your car is stolen out of your garage while you're in your house?" wondered Harold.

It's hard to imagine, but it happened. The bold crook goes in, and drives out in a black Dodge Durango that belongs to Doraine. She was home at the time.

"The key to my home is out there, my garage door opener is out there,” Doraine said. “Basically, you're very vulnerable and this could happen to anybody."

Their concern now is others could become targets in a neighborhood they thought was a safe place.

"It's unbelievable,” Harold said. “It was 7:00 in the morning, kids were walking to school and someone's committing a felony right near a school. It's ridiculous."

Harold and Doraine say sharing their story is how they want to right a wrong. They hope someone will recognize the man and help police bring him in.

They told 11 News they can only speculate about how the crook got in. They said they had some workers in their house recently who had access to several parts of the home possibly where they had their keys or garage door opener.

Police are looking into all leads and using the surveillance video as they investigate.
