After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon. Police have identified the body found in Fountain Creek early Thursday morning.
The victim is 54-year-old Danny Davis.
Officers came across his body ib Fountain Creek at I-25 and South Nevada in Colorado Springs at 4:20 a.m. Colorado Springs Fire Department's heavy rescue unit recovered the body just before 5 a.m.
Responding officers were initially unable to reach the victim, and they were uncertain at first what kind of situation they were dealing with--rescue or recovery--but told 11 News the person was unresponsive, leading them to fear the worst.
Authorities believe the man was a victim of the overnight flooding.
This is the only reported casualty from the flooding in the Colorado Springs area overnight. Investigators say they don't know where the man first entered the water.
