Authorities have released the identity of the man whose body was pulled from Fountain Creek in north Pueblo County.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Daniel Cressey of Colorado Springs. The county coroner ruled his death a homicide, and stated that there were two gunshot wounds to the torso. They say his family lives in Maine.
Cressey's body was spotted Wednesday afternoon by a person taking
pictures near Pinon Bridge. The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says they don't think the body had been there long. The county coroner says he'd only been dead a few hours.
Detectives spent Wednesday night combing the area for clues. The bridge is located on Pinon Road, which is off exit 110 on I-25 just northeast of Pueblo West.
A dive crew returned to the scene Thursday afternoon along Fountain Creek. They used a metal detector to look for evidence that might be under the surface.
Authorities have not identified a suspect. Colorado Springs Police is now involved in the investigation. If you have any information that can help detectives, contact the sheriff's office or call Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP.
