The biggest concern for this afternoon/evening will be frigid temperatures. Highs will only max in the teens and 20s with breezy conditions and wind chills in the single digits. Throughout the afternoon, a few light snow showers are possible. Any accumulations should stay under 1" and is not a big concern. Additional snow is possible this weekend...head over to the "Weather" tab for more information.
Black Forest Fire Chief Bob Harvey appears to have vacated his job without notice, according to the community's fire board district.
Harvey announced in June that he was taking a medical leave of absence due to PTSD, which he said had been triggered in part by the Black Forest Fire and the later investigation into his leadership during the fire. The Black Forest fire board said they had been waiting for an update on Harvey's condition.
That never came.
Instead, the board said in a statement (which can be read
here) that they began hearing that Harvey was telling people he was unemployed. Thursday, Harvey cleaned out his desk and left.
Harvey's status remains unclear; the board says in their statement that they "will be working to find a replacement to lead our department," but there have been conflicting reports that Harvey has not stepped down. 11 News has tried to reach Harvey for his comments, but have not been able to reach him. We will update this story as we get more information.
