The High Forest Ranch Community in Black Forest is being recognized for its efforts to reduce the risk of wildfire within the community.

It's being awarded a "Firewise" certification.

High Forest Ranch was badly damaged by the Black Forest fire earlier this year, but community leaders say thanks to the hard work of firefighters, and community projects to reduce fire risk, many homes were spared.

Today's ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. during the annual High Forest Ranch Community BBQ.

There will also be a special thanks for firefighters, emergency personnel, the Sheriff's department and MAFFS pilots.
