Restrictions on cellphone use while driving in Colorado will get another look just when it seemed the bill was done this legislative session.
Last month, the proposal failed to get enough votes in a House committee, but lawmakers did not rule out considering it later.
So the bill is coming back for another vote next week with stiffer fines for violators, which is what some lawmakers wanted. Offenses would be punishable by a $100 fine for the first citation and $200 for a second.
Aurora Democratic Rep. Jovan Melton, the bill sponsor, has made other technical changes to the bill to gain votes.
