Traffic was tied up for a couple hours on the north end of the Springs as thousands of people attended the grand opening of the new Bass Pro Shop.
Part of the draw: Willie Robertson of the reality show sensation "Duck Dynasty" was on hand to sign autographs. At least 400 people reportedly waited in line several hours to meet him.
“It’s a lot of fun. It’s kind of crazy, people trying to see Willie. It's a lot of fun, it's hectic but all in all it's fun," shopper Steven said.
A store spokeswoman told us they anticipated anywhere between 8,000 to 15,000 people through their doors.
"It’s insane and awesome all at the same time," shopper Lauren Hidalgo said.
Everyone we talked to said moving around was extremely chaotic. The chaos extended to the interstate near Northgate, where numerous drivers got stuck in the backup. Colorado Springs police and Colorado State Patrol were called in to help direct some of the traffic flow in and out of Bass Pro Shop.
We're told this is the fifth Bass Pro Shop in the nation to open its doors this year, and it's also one of the largest.
