Free legal advice will be made available to people impacted by the Waldo Canyon Fire on July 11 at the El Paso County Disaster Center.
Lawyers from the El Paso County Bar Association will be available at the El Paso County Disaster Center from 5:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11. They will be able to answer questions and assist with these topics:
-Assistance with Insurance Claims
-Counseling on housing problems, including landlord-tenant issues
-Assistance with home repair contracts
-Assisting in consumer protection matters
-Counseling on mortgage foreclosure problems
-Replacement of important legal documents (including wills)
-Drafting of powers of attorney
-Estate administration and planning
-Guardianship and conservatorships
No appointment is necessary to attend the Ask A Lawyer program, but anyone who has not previously registered at the Disaster Recovery Center, are asked to call 444-8300.
A second Ask A Lawyer event will be held on Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to Noon at the Citadel Mall.
A third event will be held by phone on Thursday, July 19 from 5:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. at KKTV’s Call for Action office.
