Authorities in Pueblo are waiting on test results to find out if the man shot and killed by officers on Christmas day was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Pueblo police shot and killed 40 year-old Richard Licon outside of a home in the 900 block of West Evans on Tuesday. Officers encountered him while responding to a report of domestic violence.

Police said Licon came out of a house and brandished a gun at officers. Initial reports were that the man also fired at officers, but Sgt. Eric Gonzales said Wednesday it's unclear now if a shot was fired or if a door had slammed.

The coroner's office is expected to release it's autopsy and toxicology test results on Thursday.
