Deputies are trying to figure out if a child enticement incident Thursday is connected to what has come to be known as "the red truck" case.
A man reportedly tried to lure a 15-year-old into his vehicle not far from where red truck suspect Duston Ridner was arrested.
There were some differences between Thursday's incident and the pattern that has emerged from the 13 encounters linked to the red truck case. The suspect Thursday was accompanied by a second man; in each of the red truck cases, the suspect believed to Ridner was always alone.
The man in Thursday's incident asked the teen he approached if she wanted a ride, while the red truck cases have all be marked by a very distinct request: the suspect reportedly offered each of the girls money to watch him touch herself.
The suspect Thursday was, however, in a red truck, though reportedly a Toyota and a not a Ford. The truck in the red truck case had been described as a Ford model.
Deputies say the teen in Thursday's incident, which happened in the area of Academy and Austin Bluffs, refused to get in the truck and got away safely. The truck took off.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says it doesn't know if it's connected to the red truck case. Red truck suspect Ridner was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Thursday and is currently booked in the CJC.
