After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon. The main impact will be the cold along with winds gusting up to 40 mph at times. Click on the 'Weather' tab for more...
If you plan on hitting the roads this weekend there is a spot that you might want to avoid. That's Austin Bluffs between Stanton and Meadow Lane, by UCCS in Colorado Springs.
Construction workers will take Austin Bluffs down to one lane in both directions in between those intersections, starting at 6:00 AM Saturday morning. They plan on opening the lanes back up around 6:00 AM Monday morning.
The Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority says that they are going to widen Austin Bluffs from four lanes to six lanes in front of UCCS. Also, they plan on widening the road between Union and Beverly, and Barnes and Old Farm.
They say the project will cost around $22.5 million, and should be done by December 2014.
