An attempted murder suspect was arrested Wednesday after allegedly leading deputies on a high-speed chase.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says they got a tip about where 54-year-old Gale Janitell was located. That led them to Fountain.
Deputies tried to pull him over, but say the suspect took off instead. He reached speeds of more than 80 mph before finally crashing into a parked car in the parking lot of H & H tire shop on Highway 85/87. After crashing, deputies say the suspect tried making a run for it. They quickly caught up with him, but say the suspect still refused to surrender. He allegedly tried to put up a fight with deputies until they finally used a stun gun on him.
Deputies say the attempted murder charges stem from an incident back in April, but did not elaborate further.
Janitell now faces several charges. He is currently being held in the CJC.
