Army aviators from Fort Campbell’s 101st Airborne Division will be visiting Fort Carson for training between early February 23 and mid-May.
The pilots will practice flying their UH-60 Blackhawks, HH-60 Medevac Blackhawks, AH-64 Apaches and the CH-47 Chinooks in the Rocky Mountains because the terrain resembles what they’ll experience in Afghanistan. The training is called High Altitude Mountainous Environment Training, or HAMET.
Fort Carson says the visiting aviators will follow the current rules and regulations for flight training and all noise complaints can be directed to the Public Affairs Office at (719) 526-9849.

Note: Fort Carson originally indicated that this training would begin in April, but has issued a correction saying it will begin on February 23.
