Ammonia leak in Otero County cleaned up

ROCKY FORD, Colo. (KKTV) Highway 50 in Rocky Ford was closed for a brief time Monday night near the Growers Co-Op because of a hazmat situation. Some homes were also evacuated for a short time.

There was a leak of anhydrous ammonia, which can be explosive. It's a chemical used in fertilizer.

Around 9:45 p.m. the Otero County Sheriff said whatever was leaking had been removed and the area is safe.
