An airplane crashed at Meadow Lake Airport, that's east of Colorado Springs, this afternoon while it attempted to take off.
According to reports from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, the plane was attempting to take off shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
A spokesman for the Sheriff's Office says the plane did leave the ground and was about 50 feet in the air when it lost power. The plane came down in a field north of the runway and then slid a small distance to its resting point along an embankment on the shoulder of east bound Highway 24.
The pilot plus one passenger were on board at the time of the crash. There were no injuries reported.
