Abortion Foes To Try Again In Colorado

DENVER (AP) -- An anti-abortion group that sponsored an unsuccessful constitutional amendment in Mississippi says it will try again next year in Colorado, Montana and Oregon.

The Denver Post reports that Personhood USA was unveiling its 2012 campaign Monday. It has campaigned for state constitutional amendments defining life as beginning at fertilization.

Mississippi voters rejected a personhood amendment this year. It sought to ban abortion, and many physicians said it could have made some birth control illegal.

Personhood amendments have failed twice in Colorado.

Abortion is killing a living, growing, developing human being. If you think killing innocent people is great, than vote no. If you support human rights for every person without discriminating based on age and location, then vote yes. Open any human embryology textbook to see that an unborn baby is a human being.

And yet these same people that want to eliminate abortion have no problem with selecting the eye color, gender, or height of their child before the kid is even out the womb. These hypocrites need to go home. Extremist right wing craptards.

Will these people go away? We've voted this down more than once. Go find something worth while to do.

Typical right-wing big government agenda. Trying to occupy a woman's uterus as government property? How about adopting the millions of throw-away kids forgotten and neglected already in our under-funded, under-supervised Foster care system? You want big government ? Start paying to ensure their safety and security. As of yet I have not seen any guaranteed protection for the viable living outside the body... even education and food is lacking for the kids that already are growing up with right-wing spending cuts. Suffer the little children yet again...and more!

Liberals abort their children and then educate ours. See a problem with that mentality yet. Also with federal funded abortions there should be a registry just as sex offenders, 2x offender your pic gets posted. Better yet photograph any women who goes in planned parenthood(post online), she has no patient confidentiality until she is inside with a doctor.

Wow, I really feel sorry for you. You go ahead and live your life and let others do the same. Why so much hatred?? On top of that, why are you spouting about Liberals and yes, I do see a problem with your mentality!!

It's interesting that the same people who support "personhood" and want to ban abortion, the morning-after pill, etc. are those who want to cut welfare programs. So they force women to have children, but don't want to help raise or support it. The personhood amendment has some frightening implications. If a woman accidentally causes a miscarriage by falling down the stairs, is that negligent homicide? IUDs prevent fertilized eggs from being implanted in the uterus. Is that murder? Personally, I would not ever choose to have an abortion. However, I don't think it is my right to tell any other woman that they must bear a child at the expense of their own lives.

Thank you!! This his a soft spot with me since I miscarried at 16 weeks with my first...and to think I would've been treated like a murderer when it was something I had no control over. Now I have 2 healthy boys! Even the Bishop in Denver thinks the Personhood amendment is extreme!

I really wish the media would stop using the negative term anti-abortion! The proper term is PRO-LIFE!

Unless of course that life requires medical care, access to food and shelter, or basically any money or concern whatsoever from the pro-forced birth contingent. You're pro fetus, not pro life.

here is a good idea lets add a phrase that says if they succeed they pay for the unwanted child to the age of 21 all expenses no matter what they are

Typical right wing zealotry: Force them to be born now so we can have more troops and death row inmates later.

The amendment proposed a while back stated the person existed at the "biological beginning". Yes, it takes a sperm and an egg, so even birth control could fall under fire. These people are nuts, and they're waiting to get a good hold of our freedoms so they can turn our country's leadership over to an "Almighty" dictatorship
