An Air Force Academy airman was sentenced Tuesday for several crimes, including drunk driving.
Major Dennis Nita was convicted of reckless driving, drunk driving and lying to police about how much he drank. The incident, which involved Nita crashing his truck on the AFA campus, happened March 21 of this year.
Nita has been sentenced to paying $2,000 a month for a year, and is prohibited from driving anywhere other than from home to work for the next two months. He had faced up to five years behind bars for making a false statement to police, and six months for drunk driving.
Nita is assigned to the 557th Flying Training Squadron.
