Authorities say they have captured a man who fled to Arizona after allegedly being involved with a murder in El Paso County.
The county sheriff's office says law enforcement agencies coordinated across state lines to apprehend 48-year-old Howard Box.
Box is accused of accessory in the murder of 20-year-old Daniel Cressey. Cressey's body was found partially submerged in Fountain Creek on May 28, two gunshot wounds to the torso. Though the body was found near Pinon Bridge in Pueblo County, investigators believe he was murdered almost 30 miles away at a home in Security.
Jessy Jo Barnes, 20, was arrested two weeks later.
EPSO says that during the course of the investigation, Box emerged as a second suspect in the case. Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for accessory to first-degree murder, then discovered he had left Colorado.
On Friday, two days after Barnes' arrest, authorities located Box and booked him into the Maricopa County Jail. He'll be extradited to Colorado at a later, undetermined date.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says they worked in cooperation with the Phoenix Police Department and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
