Denver police shot and killed a man who they say pointed a gun at them Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened in the 4900 block of Morrison Road near Sheridan and Mississippi at the Trump Plaza Apartments. Officers responded to the area around 2:45 p.m. Sunday on reports of a suicidal man.
"When officers arrived on scene, they contacted a male who was in possession of a weapon and acting in a suicidal manner. Officers attempted to diffuse the situation, however the male pointed the weapon towards the officers and four officers fired at the male striking him," Sonny Jackson with Denver police said in a prepared statement.
After the shooting the man died on the way to Denver Health Medical Center. The victim's identity has not yet been released.
No officers were injured.
The officer-involved shooting will be investigated by the Denver Police Department and the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
