Fire Works Ban

(Glenwood Springs-AP) -- Colorado Gov. Bill Owens issues a statewide ban on fireworks and open fires and orders the shut down
three state parks.

His moves came a day after the U.S. Forest Service took the
unprecedented step of closing the Pike National Forests.

Owens says Roxboro, 11-Mile and Mueller state parks are closed
until further notice.

Owens last week banned open burning on state land and the
federal government closed federal land.

But the governor issued an executive order today extending that
ban statewide even though he says he has no enforcement powers. He
says he expects cities and counties to draft measures to provide
punishment -- but asked for voluntary cooperation in the meantime.
