Focus on the Family is cutting more jobs. The Colorado Springs-based religious organization acknowledged Monday they are reducing their staff by 110 people.

The organization confirmed the rumors Friday that they were reducing their staff but would not elaborate any more than that until Monday.

"Today is family time. We'll have more to say publicly about our reduction in force on Monday," said Gary Schneeberger, vice president of ministry communications at Focus on the Family.

Now, on Monday, Focus on the Family tells 11 News that 110 people were laid off Friday, making up 13 percent of their total workforce. Focus also tells 11 News that more than 14 percent of those eliminated were management positions.

Focus on the Family officials explained that they're struggling financially now because of the global economic downturn, which led to a lack of donations. Focus says they're confident the layoffs and financial struggle won't impact their services to the community.

This is not the first time Focus on the Family has reduced their staff. In September, Focus announced they were eliminating 75 position, or 8 percent of their staff. Also, In November of 2008, 149 jobs were cut because donations were down.

The organization has a total of 750 remaining employees. Focus on the Family says they'll help the employees who lost their jobs to find new ones. .

@ME... my question remains what have FOTF church/organization have done for people in the city or even your community since I guessing FOTF doesn't branch out beyond your community. Please start naming them off. Since FOTF don't send out money to help people who suffers from tragic events done by lets say an act of god but FOTF will hold their hands out for money. A lot of other people are interested to hear and lets stay on this topic of FOTF then after we have exhausted the information from you then we will move over to OTC.

To widowmaker, I was and directly said if you dont like FOTF dont donate but if you are not a donor to FOTF then dont criticize them for how they see fit to spend their donations. If however you do donate than yes you should have a voice and an opinion of where the moneis should go, take the superbowl ad as stated the money was donated for that cause so thats where they used it. As for me donating why should I will I get a say in how my money is spent? NO. Plus all the Obamanites are sticking BP with the bill so what more would the few extra bucks I got do to help. Plus I choose to keep my dollars local where they help both me and my comunity. As for FOTF and the comunity what responsibility do they have to offer to a bunch of gold digging whiners like the ones posting here no money in the jar but you all got your hand out looking for some one to fill it. Get a job and live within your means its not their job to pay for you. Also look at the Olympic center and reply back about there $$.

I know a few that were laid off at FOTF, and I am sorry for them and their families. It's a tough economy and it's not going to be easy for them to find jobs. That said, FOTF has spent so much money on intolerance, bigotry, and far-right politics that I'm happy to see them hurting. Dobson has been a shining example of what happens to religious people that get large followings and generate lots of cash: they become hypocrites. They seem to forget that Jesus said to give everything you own to the poor, "then come, follow me". And the rich walked away in sadness, because the price was too high. Those in FOTF are focused on THEIR belief in what families are like, as if white Americans were the true Christians and the only true representatives of Christian values of family. Their hypocrisy and bigotry are astounding.
