Locally heavy rain and snow will impact Southern Colorado through Friday afternoon and early evening. Heaviest snow will favor the mountains, Teller County, and El Paso County. This will lead to difficult travel conditions by Friday morning. Heavy snow will also occur in the higher terrain to the southwest of Pueblo. The storm will wind down later Friday evening. City growth and increased call volumes could lead to a 50% expansion of the Colorado Springs Fire Department. That could mean as many as
11 new fire stations could be built in the next 20 years.
Battalion Chief Clark Stidham with the CSFD says the new additions will cover the fast growing parts of town, "certainly new growth areas, Northgate areas develop quickly, north Stetson Hills, off of Powers and Dublin. "
It's uncertain how much these new fire stations will cost or exactly where the money will come from.
City Council will hear about, and discuss the proposal in the fall.
