The West Nile Virus is continuing to spread across our state. So far, the disease has been confirmed in 17 counties in Colorado, including El Paso.

When the virus was discovered, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo said it wasn't concerned about its animals getting West Nile. But now it's taking precautionary measures, with plans to innoculate raptors, and possibly elephants and tapirs.

A golden eagle at the Pueblo Zoo was found to have the virus on Thursday. And on Friday, a magpie in El Paso County also tested positive.
