Vancouver Cancucks star Todd Bertuzzi (bur-TOO'-zee) learned today he'll go on trial for assault early next year -- following his hit on Colorado Avalanche player Steve Moore.
A provincial court judge set Bertuzzi's trial date for January 17th, during a hearing in Vancouver, British Columbia that lasted less than five minutes.
Bertuzzi is charged with assault for a sucker-punch on Moore during a game between the two teams March Eighth.
Bertuzzi has pleaded innocent.
The Avalanche center was hospitalized with three fractured vertebrae, facial cuts, post-concussion symptoms and amnesia.
It's not know when, or if, Moore will ever play again.
The NHL has suspended Bertuzzi indefinitely.
