A follow up now to a story we brought you a couple weeks ago. A Colorado Springs woman who was wanted on identity theft and burglary charges has been arrested. Turns out this isn't the first time she's committed this type of crime.

The victim, Sharon Thomas, contacted us after her wallet was stolen out of her locker at Villa Sport. The crook starting forging her name and writing checks. Thanks to our story and surveillance video taken of the crook Police were able to identify her and now she's behind bars.

35-year-old Heather Griffith was arrested this week in Arapahoe County on theft charges.

"It's great, I'm glad to know that she is finally off the streets and not doing this to other people," Thomas said.

In just a matter of six days Griffith wrote more than 3,000 dollars worth of Sharon’s checks. She used them at various businesses throughout Colorado Springs and Denver.

"She needs to spend some time in jail and pay for what's she's done," Thomas said.

It was surveillance video at a local Walgreens that helped police identify Griffith. Turns out she had committed the exact same crime at Villa Sport two months ago and had been arrested. They pulled her booking photo and it matched the woman caught on camera.

"I'm not surprised at all, I didn't think it was her first time doing it," Thomas said.

Turns out Heather Griffith has a long rap sheet. She's been charged with fraud and theft at least five times in the past. Sharon's just glad she's been caught and is off the streets.

Griffith remains in jail in Arapahoe County. A warrant for her arrest has been issued here in the springs for charges relating to Sharon's case.

She faces identity theft and 3rd degree burglary among other charges.

My checks got stolen from my mail box from Heather up in Woodland Park. She hit me at a very difficult time going through divorce. These checks were ordered in just my name as I was removing my x-wife because all the financial difficulties she put me through. These people who just take, steal whenever they please all need to be punished. Heather needs to spend some time to think about this. She put me through hell that I was already in. Bye Bye....

My wallet and information was stolen from a locked locker in the family locker room at Villa. Villa does not ask for ID if you are unable to unlock the locker. They only ask what did you put in there, so she saw what I had and when I left asked the workers to unlock it. This is not her first time stealing from Villa. BYW - there is more to this story but I am unable to share it since this is now a court issue. Villa has had many stealings and now there is security and uncover police at Villa. Members who have guests also are not asked for ID when they enter the property, she goes there with her parents. There have been cars, wallets, and other items stolen from the club. There are even known felon's who are members of the club - do not judge what you do not know. There is so much more going on then the public knows at Villa. This is for "Villa Memember".
