Bertuzzi Pleads Not Guilty

Vancouver Canucks' star Todd Bertuzzi pleaded not guilty Thursday in a British Columbian court to an assault charge, stemming from a hit on Colorado's Steve Moore back in March.

Bertuzzi made the plea in a ten-minute court appearance this morning in Vancouver, British Columbia. He said nothing to reporters as he left with his wife in a limousine.

Bertuzzi was charged June 24th with assault causing bodily harm after he allegedly punched Moore from behind and then crashed onto
the ice on top of him during a Colorado-Vancouver game on March
eighth. Moore suffered a broken neck and concussion.

The NHL suspended Bertuzzi indefinitely. He missed 20 games this past season.

Bertuzzi's trial date could be set at his next hearing September
first. It's not known when, or if, Moore will ever play again.
