Snow is expected to develop for our Monday afternoon and overnight hours. Bands of heavier snow are possible..and something we will be monitoring throughout the day today. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for far northern El Paso County where ~4" are possible by Tuesday morning. Also ahead, a High Wind Watch for much of southeast Colorado from 4-11am Tuesday morning as wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph. (Salida-AP) -- Authorities have identified a Division of Wildlife pilot who died today.
Fifty-seven-year-old Jim Olterman of Dolores was piloting a
single-engine Cessna today when it crashed in rugged terrain while
restocking high-altitude lakes with trout.
Also onboard the plane was Brandon White.
The 24-year-old from Salida was hospitalized
Olterman was senior terrestrial biologist in charge of wildlife
management on the Western Slope.
White is a fish hatchery employee who was helping Olterman.
Authorities detected an emergency signal from the Cessna 185 at
about 8 a-m.
The wreckage was spotted in trees at a remote location
above ten-thousand feet about 12 miles southeast of Salida.
