PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) -- Prosecutors have dropped a domestic violence charge filed against a Pueblo police officer after his wife, also an officer, said she wouldn't cooperate with the district attorney's office.

Officer Donnie Lambert faced a misdemeanor assault charge. He was arrested March 16. It's not clear when the case was dropped.

He had been placed on administrative leave but officials say he's back at work.

Deputy District Attorney Shad Brown said in a court filing that Lambert's wife, officer Bernadette Lambert, told prosecutors she wouldn't honor any subpoena to appear in the case against her husband.

Ignoring a subpoena can bring a contempt of court charge.

No phone number could be found for the Lamberts.

And this too will slowly fade out of the spotlight while citizens hopelessly become peasants and the privileged are just that - privileged.

Jared, your right, my son was charged because some one else called police, anyway no one wanted to file charges because nothing happend except for verbal argument but the DA threatened my daughter-in-law and of course they both had to do mandatory counseling and it wasn't free. Now it's on my sons record, nice. It's not so much that the Pueblo PD is bad it's the DA's office how they pick and choose who goes to court, who pay a fine, who goes to mandatory counseling that isn't free. Many individual remember that different officials or family members have been charged for different crimes and no they didn't get intoo trouble are still working. The Lautenberg Act states that if you are charged for domestic violence and a weapon is used you can never carry a weapon, so that's why he is still working and why she wouldn't cooperate right Mr. DA, Chief Billings. Huh

What's "ironic" is that Lambert's friend is DDA Karl Kuenhold who more than likely instructed these 2 exactly what to do/say in order for this case to be dropped. I'm sure any other person refusing a court subpoena, especially one who is a police officer would have to answer to the court. I'm almost positive there is a policy that instructs officers to "fully cooperate" with any "official investigation". So not only does Mr. Lambert walk after assaulting his wife, Mrs. Lambert gets to ignore a court subpoena which directly violates internal Pueblo PD policy. WAY TO GO!! I feel so at ease knowing these 2 upstanding citizens are "protecting" us in addition to now seeing that the PD administration apparently stands behind this type of behavior displayed by their officers.
