More than 60 dogs arrived in Colorado Springs Friday after being rescued from puppy mills all across the Midwest.

A lot of the dogs are in pretty bad shape, most have lived in cages their entire lives and some have never even seen the sunlight until now. They are all in desperate need of vet care, but most of all they just need a lot of love.

Friday afternoon a handful of volunteers had a first chance to see the dogs; there are all sorts of different breeds of both big dogs and small dogs. Many of them will be available for adoption once they are determined to be in good health. Until then, they will be placed with foster families.

There were volunteers that were close to tears seeing the condition that many of these dogs are in, an example they say of what life in a puppy mill can do.

was it really a bad place? Or was it a "witch hunt" when will our pets be subject for the same treatment if they don't sleep on the bed, then will it be that they have to sleep under the covers, then will we have to put PJ's on them..When will it stop. not all kennels are bad, many take great care of their dogs and truely give better care then some pet owners

Joseph is way off track, the wonderful people of Colorado Springs have all teamed together to get foster/adoption homes for these unfortunate pets. You would have had to have been there to appreciate the wonders of a good community. It sometimes takes a village and these volunteers gave 100% and also brought neighbors and friends to help including many other rescue organizations. What a wonderful community we live in with very caring helping people. Some people need to get the facts before they comment.
