Locally heavy rain will remain possible overnight, with any showers and storms. Areas likely to see additional heavy rain will likely be east of I-25 and along HWY 50 from Canon City eastward. The Colorado Springs Police Department is looking for the suspect wanted in connection with a First Degree Burglary and Assault that occurred at an apartment complex at Half Turn Rd. and Academy Blvd.
The burglary occurred on Sunday, August 25th at approximately 10:00 a.m. when a man described as a Black male, 25-30 years old, 5'8"-5'9" tall, 155-160 pounds, receding hairline, medium to dark skin tone, no glasses, no tattoos, entered a woman's apartment through an open front door and violently assaulted the woman.
The suspect then left the area and was chased by other residents of the complex. However, the suspect was able to get away. During the time of this assault, he was described as wearing a white baggy t-shirt and grey baggy sweatpants.
Another burglary and a sexual assault happened in the same apartment complex on Friday, August 30 at approximately 6-7 a.m. The suspect entered by removing a screen and then entering through a window. The suspect in this case may be the same as in the first case.
The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking anyone with information as to who the suspect may be to contact either Det. Wilson with the Police Department at 444-7763 or they may call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP and remain anonymous. Anyone calling Crime Stoppers and providing information that leads to an arrest in this case may earn a cash reward of up to $1,000.
