Monday marks the conclusion in the saga surrounding the new USOC headquarters in downtown Colorado Springs.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the new building at 27 S. Tejon Street Monday morning.

After the ribbon cutting, members of the media were invited to take a limited tour of the building, which includes office space, meeting rooms and pictues of Olympic athletes. The committee decided to put pictures on the walls to remind them of why they are there and to inspire future generations.

It was back in March, 2008 when the USOC struck a $53 million deal with the city of Colorado Springs in order to stay in town. This, after the USOC received several offers from other states across the country. The new building downtown was a part of that deal.

The building didn't come without a lot of controversy. The developer of the building, LandCo, was right in the middle of it all filing a lawsuit against the USOC and the city of Colorado Springs last year over the development deal. LandCo quickly settled with the USOC but still went after the city. Eventually, the city bought the building from LandCo in exchange for the lawsuit to be dropped.

Just when the controversy looked to be over, another problem came up just as the building was in its final stages of construction. In November of last year, chunks of snow and ice started falling from the roof of the new buildiing. The sidewalk and parking lot around the building had to be blocked off near the building for safety purposes. A few cars were damaged but there were no injuries. Clean-up and repairs cost the city of Colorado Springs more than$19 million.

This is what you get for voting for Conservatives, they gave all our tax money to the crooks @ USOC, then turned our street lights off, fired our cops and firemen, and who knows what next.
