Colorado Springs police say 18-year old Adan Viveros has been arrested in the city's latest homicide.
Viveros was advised of his charges on Thursday. He has been charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder.
Police say his is the shooter in a deadly gang related shooting last Monday night on Dewey Drive, near Airport and Murray. When police arrived, they found two gunshot victims lying in the street. One of the victims, 18-year old Claudio Vega died from his injuries. A 15-year old male was also injured.
"There is gang ties to this homicide no question there. It's just going to be a matter of to what degree did gang activity play into this murder investigation," said Sgt. Steve Noblitt with the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Viveros was arrested Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop. He was the passenger in a car that was pulled over in the Citadel Crossing Shopping Center.
Viveros is being held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on no bond. He is due back in court on May 4.
