Rescue crews are searching for a man who may have been swept down a fast-moving creek in Colorado Springs Wednesday night.
A witness called 9-1-1 after seeing a man fall as he tried to cross Monument Creek, which passes under Interstate 25 in the northwest part of the city.
The National Weather Service says up to five inches of rain fell in parts of the county, forcing the creek to swell.
Colorado Springs Fire Department Lieutenant Neil Luehring says
crews searched extensively Wednesday night, but didn't find the man.
Searchers returned to the area Thursday morning now after the water receded.
Officials from El Paso County Search and Rescue, the Colorado Springs Fire Department and Fort Carson are assisting in the effort.
