Gasoline Prices

Average gasoline prices this Labor Day weekend are down 14 cents a gallon from a year ago.

The latest AAA Colorado survey found Colorado's average retail price for regular, self-serve gasoline dropped one-half cent a gallon this week to $1.46. That is six cents above the national average.

Analysts believe gas prices would be even lower if it weren't for the uncertainty over a possible war with Iraq.

The price of benchmark West Texas crude oil rose above $30 a barrel last week as President Bush renewed talk of attacking Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. That's up 60 percent from the beginning of this year.
