A legal defeat for satellite TV provider DirectTV.
A federal judge in Denver has dismissed claims by the provider against a Colorado Springs man who they say possesses decoding equipment that steals satellite signals.
The judge ruled simply possessing such equipment can't expose somebody to a civil lawsuit.
Experts say the ruling could make it very difficult for the company to file piracy lawsuits in the state.
DirectTV has filed 2 hundred lawsuits in the state and 24 thousand nationwide.
